Short Opinions and the Latest Site Info
1/20/06 - 12:39pm Our update today is the dCD Songs of 2005. Get a complete list of the great, the good, and the simply strange songs of the past calendar year. The file also includes archives back to 2003. Also, the final edition of the Senators Report. Good times :tears up: good times. The Legacy of Dr. King I encourage you all to visit the Dnet Lounge, one of the DNET-work affiliates, to read the complete "I Have A Dream" speech of Dr. Martin Luther King Jr. Also included on that January 16 post is my opinion on the current status of Dr. King's holiday. Because of Homestead's editing program, I cannot paste it here; however, it will be included in its entirety in the Quick Shot Archives. So, Lounge or Archives, just make sure you check it out. 12/12/05 - 6:39pm Nothing new for the site, but I did get an email from Baptist Record editor William Perkins regarding my article. Below are both emails: The Baptist Crusade I'm a former member of a Mississippi Baptist church and have been appalled at the way you are treating those in the media, politics, and even the church who disagree with your viewpoint on the casino issue. Attached is an article I have written for my website on the subject. Hopefully, you won't attack me like you do Sid Salter every week. Sincerely, Dylan McLemore RE: The Baptist Crusade Mr. McLemore - I welcome your point of view in the public marketplace of ideas. There's room for all of us and I appreciate your writing to me and sending me your blog. Here's hoping that many people take the opportunity to read it; I have already circulated it around the offices of The Baptist Record. The final installment in this carefully considered series of editorials on gambling expansion will come to an end with this week's issue. Lest you assume otherwise, you and your blog didn't have anything to do with that long-planned decision. Best Regards, William Additional Thoughts From Dylan I have been very pleased with the viewpoints being expressed regarding this issue. Baptists and non-Baptists alike are speaking out both for and against land-based casinos. I got a different perspective reading Mr. Perkins' final editorial last week. In it, he backed off the harsh comments quite a bit, although remaining firm in his stance. That's how things should have been done; make your point; don't try to drag people though the dirt. And lest I think otherwise, my website and the multitudes more who have expressed their discontent did have something to do with the more timid end to Mr. Perkins' series. Never forget, no matter how small the voice, speaking out counts. |
